A Poem: “Let Them Fall”

This is a poem that I wrote last year in one night. We had year full of both expected and unexpected changes, and all of them were challenging. I was struggling one night and stayed up late reading my Bible, and really like Jacob, wrestling with God. This poem is what came from that evening.

Let Them Fall

(The season of change is here)

Let roles and relationships fall away.

Let the dreams of the past that you thought were to stay,

Let them fly away upward-like the sparks of our lives that we lay-

Down at the feet.

Let

Them

Fall.

Like the string that secures the balloon to the ground,

If we never let go, no flight will abound.

So when unannounced the weather does change,

Don’t be shocked, and then fall out of the game.

Stand strong and remember that God changes not.

He will not fail thee. He has not forgot:

His promise of riches, of mercy, and grace,

“I will be with thee, so finish your race!”

Now put away the old man: his pride and his plan,

And let Jesus strengthen your inner man.

Keep looking forward, not back, nor behind.

While fall away the weights. Be renewed in your mind.

‘Tis only a season. Spring is coming again.

Press on and soon the life crown you’ll win.

But today as you open the door wide and tall,

And the leaves of change come blowing in…

Let

Them

Fall.
